As part of our series of meetings, the Circular Creation working group of the Circular Fashion Federation continues its exploration of natural materials and local sourcing. After discussing cotton, linen, hemp, and wool, this fourth meeting focuses on a material as precious as it is controversial: leather.
This edition of Creative Watch highlights the following issues:
What are the stages, know-how and types of tanning that shape today's leathers?
What are the real environmental impacts of leather, between waste recovery, bio-sourced alternatives and controversies over animal welfare?
How are the French leather industries organized to combine performance, sustainability and traceability?
The answers to these questions emerge through an open dialogue with committed professionals from Alliance France Cuir, the French Tanning Federation and CTC, who share their expertise on a subject at the crossroads of craftsmanship, technological innovation and social responsibility.
From the valorization of co-products to environmental certification, this monitoring explores a sector in full transformation, concerned with preserving its know-how while rethinking its future.

This edition focuses on concrete and pioneering initiatives that show how leather can be part of a circular and creative approach.
