Digital Product Passport: Empowering circularity increasing the value chain

Mapping circular activities: a comprehensive guide to the DPP framework

Presentation of the first deliverable of the Circular Digital Product Passport Working Group

The Circular Fashion Federation (FMC) is proud to announce the publication of the first deliverable of its Working Group dedicated to Circular Digital Product Passport (DPP)This document marks a key step in our ambition to anticipate future regulatory obligations related to the Ecodesign Regulation for Sustainable Products (ESPR), some of which will come into force as early as 2027, with full implementation planned for 2033.

A tool for circular and transparent fashion

The Circular Digital Product Passport is positioned as a central tool to strengthen transparency, traceability and sustainability in the fashion sector. By providing detailed information on materials, production processes and the life cycle of textile products, the DPP will enable:

  • Consumers to make informed choices in favor of sustainability and ethical practices;
  • For companies to align their practices with the expectations of regulators and consumers;
  • It is up to the European institutions to promote circular fashion based on shared standards.

A rich and ambitious collaboration

Created in February 2024, this Working Group is led by Stephanie Bretonnière (WEIMPACT.WORLD) et Melanie Bradaia (Arianee). It brings together around fifty members representing a diversity of circular fashion stakeholders. Together, they work to develop a standardized product classification system reflecting the technical specificities of circular practices such as reuse, repair or upcycling.
